I look across the tracks and beyond the handful of houses that are Kelso toward Cornfield Spring, my destination

Cornfield Spring is somewhere at the base of the Providence Mountains over there. I'm still hot and tired, and it's certainly warmer down here in the valley than it was up on the Kelbaker Road summit.

I've been drinking more water and I ate another Clif bar since arriving at Kelso Depot, so I'm as ready as I can be to take on the final few miles of today's ride.
