After two miles on the unpaved Crucero Road, I arrive at a billboard advertising the Kelso Dunes Wilderness Area

I'm heading slightly downhill here, yet some of the road has been gravelly enough that I have to walk the 10-ton bike. My road heads up into the Bristol Mountains, visible in the distance here, so I turn and ride eastward.
