A half mile further up this unnamed Gold Valley road, I encounter a fence (or is it a locked gate?)

I see no way to get past this fence, even though the route is not marked as blocked on my Mojave National Preserve map. Rather than risk trespassing on private property here, I turn around and head back to my original route on Woods Wash Road.
