After my break at the Valley Wells store, I'm recharged and begin my way up Aiken Mine Road

I pass one of those small "Entering Mojave National Preserve" signs near the start of Aiken Mine Road. I've wanted to ride up this road for years, but never fit it into my previous trips. The road begins with a hard-packed sandy surface.
